A baby and their emotions

New parents quickly find out their baby isn't just a baby. Each infant is a little person with his or her own unique personality. You may be surprised to know babies also have their own personality and emotions when they're still tucked away happily in their mommy's womb!

Getting to know your baby and his or her emotions can be summed up in one word - interesting. Some babies love to be held while others don't. Some babies cry at the slightest cue while others are happily content in most situations. Some babies are innately happy while others can be cranky (which is obviously not an inherited trait from you!)

When getting to know your little bundle, keep in mind you may have to throw out your pre-existing notions of what it is to be a parent to a newborn, and learn how to do it your own way. Don't stress if your baby prefers his baby seat to your lap. Find other ways to incorporate contact with him or her. Just don't forget that all babies need love and attention, no matter how they're packaged!
